About Selcan
I am a Law graduate with a 2:1 LLB, an LLM in Bar Vocational Studies and I am currently undertaking a PhD in Law, focusing on financial crime, international compliance and regulation. My professional background includes legal advocacy, client support, research and financial crime investigation, giving me strong analytical, communication and presentation skills that are highly transferable to an educational environment.
I am a confident communicator with experience explaining complex information, presenting research and advocating for people who require additional support. My work with vulnerable clients has strengthened my ability to listen, build professional relationships and adapt my approach to individual circumstances. I am organised, collaborative and comfortable taking responsibility, while my academic background enables me to bring strong subject knowledge and research skills.
Alongside my legal experience, I have received several awards recognising my presentation skills, academic engagement and commercial awareness. Most recently, I received the University of Strathclyde Best Presenter Award in June 2025 for presenting research on the economic and regulatory consequences of FATF grey-listing.
