A well-regarded primary school in Hertford is looking for an Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a part-time role working Mondays and Fridays, supporting children in the Early Years through to the end of the academic year in July 2026.

This is a great opportunity to work in a settled, supportive environment where early development, phonics and positive classroom routines are a clear priority.

About the School

This is a popular, two-form entry primary school with a Nursery and a strong Early Years provision. The school has a positive reputation locally and was judged to be Good by Ofsted in its most recent inspection, including in Early Years.

There is a clear focus on creating a calm, inclusive environment where children feel secure and ready to learn. Early reading is a key strength, with a structured phonics approach in place from Nursery onwards.

About the Role

You’ll be working within the Early Years setting, supporting children in Reception and Nursery as needed. The role will involve:

  • Supporting children’s early development through structured play and learning
  • Assisting with phonics delivery – the school uses Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised
  • Helping to establish routines, behaviour expectations and engagement
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider EYFS team

This is a consistent, two-day-per-week role, ideal for someone looking for a steady part-time position.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in an Early Years setting
  • A good understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Confidence supporting early phonics and language development
  • Experience with Little Wandle would be a strong advantage
  • Someone reliable and committed through to July 2026

Why This Role?

  • Clear structure and strong phonics provision already in place
  • Supportive and experienced Early Years team
  • Consistent part-time schedule (Mondays and Fridays)
  • Opportunity to make a real impact in the early stages of learning
